Elk Mtn begins to make snow?

November 26, 2008

Last but not least, Elk Mountain is beginning to make snow. While Elk Mountains receives more snow than most ski areas in PA, it seems very odd that they have kept their snow guns quiet through all of these cold temp days. They have even ruled out a November opening date! Maybe Bob the snow maker realized how short the drive to Vermont was.

Sno Mtn opens on Friday

November 26, 2008

Sno Mtn is one of the next ski areas to open in PA. Sno Mtn will be opening on Friday with skiing and riding on Cannonball, Boomer, the bunny slope, and the rail garden.

Big Boulder and ???

November 24, 2008

Big Boulder is still making snow like crazy! One can see a significant increase in the amount of snow between last night and tonight. They have opened one additional trail and are very close to opening everything else except for  2 trails that have not received any   yet.

Camelback also opened up this weekend, but their terrain was limited to the tubing trail which was converted to a mini terrain park.

Sno Mtn is rumored to be making snow, but no noticeable changes can be seen on the mountain. Their anticipated opening day on Thanksgiving is beginning to sound unrealistic.

Ton’s of snow at Big Boulder!

November 23, 2008

Big Boulder is open for skiing and riding with 4 trails and more will be opening soon. The mountain appeared to be using every available snow gun the put down as much snow as possible. Ticket prices are at 25 dollars for what may be the best open terrain in Pa right now. While there is only one ‘good’ trail open for top to bottom skiing, many more already have enough snow to open, but are still closed for snow making. If anyone has the need for some early season runs then Big Boulder is the place for you.

Ski season is here in PA

November 22, 2008

Ski season is finally here in pa and resorts are beginning to open. This can mostly be attributed to the great snow making conditions lately, local resorts have been able to make alot of snow. In North Eastern PA resorts such as Big Boulder, Camelback, and Sno Mtn have begun to make snow. Leading the pack is Big Boulder which opened for this season on Thursday November 20th. Camelback is also opening today for pseudo terrain park skiing on their tubing trail. Last but not least is Sno Mtn which is slated to open on Thanksgiving. If these conditions keep up we should be seeing mountains open at 100 percent by mid december.
